We had our annual Busby Family Reunion. My grandmother's maiden name was Busby and this is all the descendants from my great-great-grandparents, John David & Lettie Busby. Jaydee was in absolute heaven, there was all the ice cream you could eat (soft serve all weekend long), snow cones, lots of yummy food, a big pile of sand which with a hose running makes great mud, plus slides, swings and lots of new cousins to play with. Jaydee even got Sam to let her go down the cable car (a zipline). I am glad I didn't watch my baby do that, but she loved it. The entire weekend, Jaydee was covered with ice cream and dirt, she looked like an orphan that hadn't had a bath in months. I do promise she was bathed every night even if you couldn't tell. Friday my feet had swollen up due to being up and out in the heat so I tried to take it easy on Saturday but they were still swollen. Sam hurt his back so I am very grateful to the little babysitters I had all weekend to help me out. I must admit I hope my sugar doesn't skyrocket with all the ice cream I ate. I don't like snow cones but I love the soft ice and had a cup full in my hand the entire weekend.
My favorite memories from growing up are playing at the cabin, of course the cabin is in much better shape, I remember it being built, then adding dry wall, then paint, then fans, a little bit every year. The reunion is absolutely the best place in the world. I have never understood why so many of my cousins don't come. I haven't always been able to make the entire reunion, but I definitely try to come to part of it. I also don't understand how people can come and not even pay for their food... but that is another rant and this is about happy memories. Of few of us cousins who grew up going were trying to figure out how our moms helped with the food and kept an eye on us. We decided that we must have just ran wild, which when I asked Aunt Susan and my mom they agreed. They shared stories about Nathan when he was little, following the bigger cousins out into the woods and they ditched him. A forest ranger brought him back and no one even knew he was gone. Since then they have built a fence around the property and we haven't lost any more kids. I was a wimp though and stayed at Bison Ranch rather than camped. 6 months prego and camping just didn't sound appealing plus until I figure out Jaydee's seizures, I don't want to camp with her having another one. I can't believe it has been a year since her first one. So maybe in a few years I'll try camping again...
I'll post pictures later, but I wanted to write some of my memories down.
