Random Thots

I read an interesting article and one paragraph hit me. The article if anyone cares is from MondayMorningMemos.com he sends out marketing advice usually but lately it has been on life.

Here are the thoughts from his mother: “When a person dies, everyone who loved them will cancel their other obligations, send a big bouquet of flowers, jump on an airplane and fly across the country to look at their dead friend in a box.” Mom waited a moment for this to soak in. “If I’m going to cancel my plans, buy roses and travel because of friendship, I’m going to do it while my friend is alive to smell the flowers and enjoy the adventure with me. And if my friend passes before I do, I'll sit quietly at home and remember the trip we took together.”

I just loved this thought about MAKING time to spend with loved ones. So my goal is to spend more time with those I love. It is about priorities and planning.

Then Roy closes with this question:

Stephen Levine poses a very interesting question: "If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?"

I read some of the responses and they made me cry about people not connecting. I hope I never have a time when I go for years without calling those I love. I would call Sam and my Grandma Kathy. Yes, I am writing this so I get to pick two. I would make sure they knew how much I loved them! When my brother left yesterday on his mission, I did make sure I told him that I loved him! I am going to miss that kid! :)

So who would you call? What would you say? and Why are you waiting?

Have you settled on a middle name? That could make a difference on voting on the first name. :)

Nope.. Sam wants Hyrum Keith or Hyrum Brazil. He is a bit stuck on Hyrum...

Very insightful. I know that if I were diagnosed terminal, I would want to visit everyone that I remember and have an evening with each of them to share old memories and to hand out. I would also fly to Maine with most of them to eat a lobster/seafood dinner together so I could taste the freshest seafood possible.

BTW DON'T DO A "-AYDEN" NAME!!!! There are far too many of them, Had we known this before we named Hayden, we would have stayed away from that name like the Plague. (We call him Tate) So far Kindergarten is starting to look like an "-ayden-Fest". Brayden, Cayden, kayden, jayden,Payton, Payden, Raydon, Tayden, Zayden. Seriously, there should be a limit!

I love the name Hyrum. He would more than likely be the only one in his class.

I voted for Zaden because I like Z names but I'd like to change that vote to Brazil. I agree, there are too many en sounding names. Hyrum is also a good one. Not so fond of Keith but do what feels good to you guys. (Not that you wouldn't.) Everyone told me they hated Cora's name and I just didn't care and I've always been glad I didn't listen and we named her that anyway.

How funny, I love the name Cora. Sam is really set on Hyrum. Jaydee voted for Keith and then for Kallem. She is easy to switch though. I do see Shellee's point on the ayden names. I liked Zayden but I had a name that rhymed with 5 other girls and I hated it. Brandi, Sandy, Bandy, Mandy, you get the picture. :)
